Troubleshooting Guide
The following tools make it easy to determine the cause of any problems that occur.
Self-test
This procedure tests control circuitry (other than serial communication and parallel
communication send/receive control) and the printer mechanism.
Troubleshooting flowcharts
These flowcharts guide you through analysis of problems on a unit-by-unit basis. Their attention
to fine detail helps to locate the causes that are normally difficult to determine.
Self-test
Performing the Self-test
1. Prepare the unit for printing by loading roll paper and closing the roll paper cover.
2. While holding down the feed button on the control panel, turn on unit power. Release the
paper feed button once printing starts.
3. The PAPER OUT LED starts to flash when the printing operation is complete.
The content of the printout shows the current status of the printer. To continue the self-test,
press the paper feed button again.
Self-test End
The following is printed as the final line of a self-test:
*** completed ***
The unit then enters the normal operational mode, with all settings initialized.
