2-14 Mechanisms and Operation Rev. A
The movable blade support, spacer, movable blade, movable blade holding spring, and movable
blade spring washer are equipped on the movable blade shaft, which is caulked to the paper
cutter frame. The drive pin fits into an oblong hole in the movable blade, and rotation of the
drive pin causes the movable blade to rotate left and right on the movable blade shaft. The
microswitch is off (open) when the movable blade is in the wait state.
Auto cutter operation
The frame cover can be closed while the movable blade is in the home position. Closing the
frame cover causes a shaft in the main frame to push up the blade shutter, exposing the
stationary blade. Also, the stationary blade is brought into partial contact with the paper cutter
frame, and the stationary blade and movable blade are put into opposition. This is the auto
cutter enabled state.
The following is a step-by-step description of an auto cut operation:
1. Application of voltage between paper cutter motor terminals causes the motor to rotate
clockwise.
2. The drive pin moves the movable blade towards the stationary blade.
3. The movable blade and stationary blade intersect to cut the paper from right to left.
4. An uncut portion is retained on the left and the movable blade returns.
5. The microswitch detects when the movable blade returns to the home position, motor
operation is stopped, and movable blade operation is stopped.
Cutter blade knob
The movable blade is in the home position whenever cutter operation is not being performed. In
addition to safety considerations, this enables a mechanism in which the frame cover cannot be
opened or closed while the movable blade is not in the home position.
