Stationary blade mechanism
The stationary blade is attached to the frame cover, and the stationary blade holding spring
presses the stationary blade against the frame cover. A blade shutter is installed on the frame
cover, where it is pulled by the shutter spring. The blade shutter is a safety mechanism that
keeps the stationary blade covered whenever the frame cover is open.
Movable blade mechanism
A paper cutter motor is fixed inside the paper cutter cover, and the cutter motor gear is press fit
onto the motor shaft. The paper cutter motor is a DC brush motor. The drive gear is supported
by the gear drive shaft (caulked to the paper cutter cover) so it can rotate. The drive gear is
retained on the paper cutter cover by a push nut. The rotary force of the paper cutter motor is
reduced by the paper cutter motor gear and the drive gear, and then rotates a drive pin that is
press fit to the drive gear.
A microswitch is fixed to the paper cutter cover in order to sense the position of the stationary
blade. A cam is molded onto the driver gear, and engagement with this cam repeatedly turns the
microswitch on and off. The paper cutter motor and microswitch are connected to the switch
circuit board assembly-B by the paper cutter lead.
