Cover-open detector mechanism
This mechanism consists of lock lever ("Lever, CS lock") located on the roll paper cover, and a
detection lever ("Lever, cover-open detect") and cover-open detector located on the gear-train
frame assembly on the paper roll side. The mechanism detects the open/close state of the cover.
The cover-open detector consists of an LED and a phototransistor. When the cover is closed, the
lock lever rotates the detection lever such that the blocker plate on the other end of the detection
lever moves between the LED and phototransistor, blocking the light flow and changing the IC
output. The change in IC output detects the open/closed state.
When the printer detects that the cover is open, it immediately goes offline and stops operating.

Cutter detector mechanism
This mechanism consists of two cutter detectors (one at left, indicated as "L", and the other at
right, "R"), and a cutter carriage sub-assembly (which includes a blocker plate).
Each cutter detector consists of an LED and a photo IC. The detector outputs HIGH when the
blocker plate is blocking the light flow, and LOW when the light path is open. When the cutter
carriage sub-assembly is in standby at home position on either the L or R side, the detector on
that side will be generating a HIGH, while the detector on the other side will output a LOW.
When cutter operation begins (when a cutter command causes the cutter motor to begin
turning), the cutter moves out of home position, causing the blocker to move out of the detector,
so that L/R detectors will be outputting LOW. When the cutter completes operation and reaches
home position on the other side, the blocker will enter the detector at that side and the signal at
that side will go HIGH.
